Manchester United have announced a five-and-a-half-year contract extension for young striker Anthony Elanga, after seeing his pace improve during his time at Old Trafford since the Under-18s. Until the big set in the era of acting team manager Ralph Rangnick

The new contract will allow the 19- carat star to serve the ‘ Red Devils ‘ until the end of the 2025-26 season, with the option of extending the contract for another 12 months.

There is still plenty of work to do, and a loan move cannot be ruled out just yet. But with Anthony Martial likely to leave, and the Covid situation a valuable reminder of the need for squad depth, Elanga could have an important part to play in 2022.
