Sevilla will be pleased after central defender Jules Kounde was given a one-match ban.
The Frenchman was sent off in La Liga’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday. By the time the mood was not controlled, the ball was thrown into the face of Jordi Alba, resulting in a red card being kicked out of the field.
Last Thursday, La Liga issued a penalty for the 23-year-old defender, who has only been banned for one match.
Kounde will miss the next La Liga match against Cadiz on January 3 before returning to play in the next game against Getafe on January 9.
It is good news for Sevilla after knowing the penalty for Kounde, who has been banned for just one match. Because previously there were concerns that the French player might face multiple penalties for behavior seen on the field.
After that Kounde looked so emotional that he threw the ball right at Jordi Alba’s face. The Spanish defender then fell to the ground holding his face with both hands. The referee called the medical team, then the match resumed.
For Kounde, this is the first red card in his career. Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui was reluctant to criticize his players’ attitude.
